Trapped in a broken society by VisualArtist-Jorn Trapped in a broken society by VisualArtist-Jorn
Is our society broken? It looks like a growing number of people think it is. Personally I think our society is not broken but sick, but we still have to find the cure.

And that's what I am trying to convey with this piece.

Comments and thoughts are greatly appreciated, I will try to answer all. And you can share my work, it's even appreciated but please link it back to me!

I agree with a previous comment that the media have a lot to answer for, in the uk, the BBC news got people into such a panic about Northern Rock bank, that people cleared all their funds from the bank and it collapsed. Greed and selfishness have done a lot to damage community spirit and the work ethic is slowly dying.. Why go out to work, when The Powers That Be will throw money at you for sitting on your backside all day, while the people who DO go out to work are bled dry by the state to fund this layabout society... A weak leadership that's more interested in spin and poll ratings is not the cure we need, we need a strong government that will stand up for moral values, the family and those who get up off their arses and work for a living.

The Artist probably didn`t think of the economical problems our earth encounters, but here is a part of my point of view over our modern society.
Sorry for my bad english.

If we would observe our planet from a non subjective point of view, we would see a very strange self destructing species. There is no way anybody could rationally explain some of the grievances we encounter on our earth. Our society is broken and I don't believe anything is able to change it for the good. (Maybe for the better but not for the good)
Economy became our religion and our religion enslaved us. To work all day, To produce more and more, To ensure our economy is growing. Our whole system is built on economic growth but the growth stopped being useful a long time ago. Everybody could have enough, to call himself wealthy even without further economic growth, but eagerness and selfishness doesn`t allow the wealth to be equally shared. Instead everybody is trimmed like a clock to produce more to even enlarge the disparity between poor and rich. Not to speak of the ecological follow-ups a always exponentially growing economy has. Oil, Uran, even the chemicals we produce fertilizer of are turning rare in view of the economic growth our politicans want to achieve, Need to achieve to ensure that there are as few unemployed persons as possible.
We are running like a giant herd towards a wall of bricks with high speed and nobody really cares.
If humanity doesn`t make a sharp turn in their politics and their way to think there wil bel not much left of the humanity we know in a 50 isch years.
